Description: The chair is designed for active paraplegics and is intended to reduce barriers to travel and independence. The chairs unique axel-less design allows the users everyday chair to be quickly converted to a commode for use over a toilet or in a shower.
The chair easily folds down to become smaller and lighter than others currently on the market, while maintaining a high level of features and adjustability.
The use of Nanotechnology throughout the chair has led to a keen national and international following of this project's success.
With function and manufacturability as primary concerns, this project is a good example of how Lu Papi & Associates can take a product from concept to realisation. The chair is made using Sandvik NanoFlex® s/s tube, polymers with nano-fillers, nylon and carbon fibre. The design can only be manufactured by using these very advanced materials. Lu Papi had to develop a special process to bend the NanoFlex® which had never before been bent successfully any where in the world. |
