Description: German-based international leather and bag specialist BREE has created the first illuminated business handbag with Smart Surface Technology. The very solution they were looking for is now available in the form of "Smart Surface Technology" developed by Bayer MaterialScience, one of the world's largest plastics manufacturers, in partnership with the Swiss firm Lumitec, a specialist in electroluminescence (EL) and precision electronic components.
A printed Makrofol® / Bayfol® film forms the "smart" outer skin of the plastic component. Beneath this is a multi-layer electrode system that produces cold light when a voltage is applied a phenomenon known as electroluminescence. The development is the result of close cooperation between Bayer MaterialScience and the Swiss company Lumitec AG. Light from a film These flat, readily moldable light-generating plastic parts produce a bright, uniform light while using hardly any energy (there's no bulb or light-emitting diode involved) and have an very long service life BASF Future Business GmbH is developing materials for next-generation illuminants. Lighting systems based on thin-film organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) and polymers for ultra thin films. |
