Description: World-wide, some two billion hectares of cultivated land and grazing areas are degraded to a greater or lesser extent. That amounts to 15% of the world’s land surface – equivalent to an area the size of the United States and Mexico together. Nine million hectares of degraded land have been irreparably destroyed and are thus lost forever. Roughly one billion people live in these impacted areas. Year for year, between five and seven million hectares of land formerly available for cultivation or grazing are destroyed all over the world – an area the size of Ireland.
Solutions
Geohumus offers the possibility of generating new vegetation on infertile soil. As a combined water-retention medium and nutrient supplier, Geohumus reactivates soil organisms and improves the water balance – vital prerequisites for vegetation growth.
The development of root systems in the soil and the formation of new humus stabilize soil structure and thus prevent such phenomena erosion and shifting sands.
The use of Geohumus significantly expands the range of plants which can be selected for cultivation in these areas.
The following benefits can be achieved through the use of Geohumus: Cultivation of vegetation on highly permeable soils, even in extremely hot and arid locations Effective: Only 0.01% by weight of Geohumus is needed Prevention of substrate shifting and water evaporation through stabilization of the surface with silicate and gel crust Reduced salt deposits resulting from capillary ascent and evaporation
Technical data on Geohumus: Water-retention capacity: up to 20 times its own weight Dosage: 100g / m˛, equates to 0.01% by weight (2l water-retention capacity/ m˛) Environmental compatibility: proven through degradability testing and toxicological analysis Mineral composition: nitrogen, 4,3% potassium, phosphorus, silicate, carbon, 4,0% calcium, 2,1% magnesium, 4,6% iron, 5,0% aluminium pH: 6-7
Advantages of Geohumus: Reduced irrigation: minimized evaporation and drainage, more effective use of additional fertilizers Long-term effect: continuous water and nutrient supply for optimum growth and transport conditions More vital, robust plants (also supported by plant-consumable silicate) Anti-desertification effects: promotes the growth of vegetation even in extremely hot and arid areas and in highly permeable soil (e.g. sand) Improved soil aeration: loose soil as an optimized habitat for micro-organisms which also promotes symbiosis between fauna and flora and thus natural regeneration of soil fertility Effective: Low-dosage quantities and simple application The selected mineral raw materials are tested and free of hazardous ingredients.
