Micellar Nanoparticles (MNP): Micellar nanoparticle technology delivers drug encapsulated in tiny emulsion particles into the skin. When rubbed into the skin, the micellar nanoparticles deposit in the outermost skin layer, functionally creating a drug depot. The emulsion deposits the active drug into the stratum corneum and epidermis. The active drug gradually diffuses into the deeper layers of the skin until it reaches the bloodstream. This technology is being used for Estrasorb®, an estrogen emulsion for treating menopausal symptoms. Estrasorb® is licensed to Esprit Pharma for sale in the US, Canada, and Mexico. |
